Bronze Lion for Digital Craft
I chose this ad for multiple different reasons. Firstly, it is extremely cool after a week of first hand experiencing virtual reality to see it portrayed in an ad where they physically put you inside of the VR and it becomes reality. All week after multiple VR experiences, I thought to myself that it would be even cooler to end up in the VR itself. This ad takes a passer-byer and puts them in a VR headset to experience Ireland first hand. Little do they know that when they remove the headset they will physically be inside an Irish pub, the exact scene that they were experiencing in the VR. The way it was filmed also made it feel and appear more realistic, as they cuts weren't professionally edited and it was less film-y and more realistic. Secondly, one of our new friends we made this week is part of the agency that created it! We met Irakli during the Young Lions after party earlier on in the week, as he is also from Georgia. Well, the country of Georgia not the state. But we all bonded over being "Georgian," so how cool is that. A few nights later he ecstatically came up to us saying "we won a Lion, we won a Lion!!" so I knew we had to check it out. After seeing it for the first time I was impressed, and extremely happy for our new friend. This ad really portrays the Georgian and Irish cultures through different mediums, which I find very interesting. This concept was very well made.
